Product Description

Ring joint gaskets are made to withstand extreme pressures and temperatures while being used in highly corrosive environments. They meet or exceed API-6A specifications and are available in soft iron, low carbon steel, SS 304, SS 316 and other exotic alloys for specialty applications. 

This metal ring pad is a solid metal gasket with cross-section octagonal shape made of metal material by forging and heat treatment and machining. It has the function of radial self-tight sealing and is a kind of standard R-type metal ring pad, which is based on the contact between the gasket and the inside and outside of the flange ladder groove (mainly the outer surface), and the sealing effect is formed by compaction. The octagonal metal ring pad is installed in the ladder ring groove of the flange surface. When the connecting bolt is tightened, the axial compression and the upper and lower ladder groove are tight, resulting in plastic deformation, forming a ring seal belt to establish the initial seal. after boosting the pressure, the radial expansion of the ring pad is made under the action of the medium pressure. Gasket and trapezoid groove slope more tight, produce self-tightening effect. However, the increase of the medium pressure will also deform the flange and the connecting bolt, resulting in the relative separation of the sealing surface and the relative decrease of the gasket sealing ratio, so the ring pad can be considered as a semi-self-tight seal. Octagonal metal ring pad and flange groove match is mainly face contact, compared with oval ring pad although not easy to close with flange groove, but can be used again, and because the section is made of straight line easy to process. At the same time choose octagonal metal ring pad material hardness should be lower than flange surface 15~20HB.
